These pics represent less than half of what I collected during the 1970's and 1980's. My mom passed away when I was only 14. I was pretty lost, but my Auntie Irene, was really nice to me. She would take me out on weekends, and we would explore the old antique malls and thrift stores in N.H. and Maine. We had fun!!!! It gave me an outlet and something positive to focus on during my teen years. Plus the time I spent with my aunt and the memories we made are priceless. I treasure the time we spent together and the values and knowledge she instilled in me. Most of my collection is the Grapeleaf pattern from Indiana glass company and/or Westmoreland. I collected everything piece by piece and for very little money. Most pieces were purchased for less than 1 dollar each. $.25 or $.50 per piece was not uncommon. I see from the internet that they're worth much more today. My collection has been in storage for the past 7 years. I only recently got it out, cleaned it and put it back on display. It felt like Christmas unwrapping each piece and revisiting the memories. I'm looking forward to using it to set my Easter table. It may be alittle more work to take care of, (it can't go in the dishwasher, every piece has to be washed by hand), but, it's heavier and much more durable than the thin china of today, and I think the color and pattern blend and coordinate with almost everything. I also have fiestaware, that I use everyday, and an extensive collection of clear crackleglass dishware, (also vintage).
Thank you scandinavian_pieces. I'm happy to have a forum for sharing with like minded people.
