I just joined this site and this is my first (NOT LAST) post...

I have several parlor heaters. They are either coal or natural gas and come from both Europe and USA.

The 'clam shell' heater is WM Crane of NY. It uses (I'm sure it would still work) natural gas and has no venting to the outside. I guess houses had a lot of drafts back then which would have vented the carbon monoxide out of the parlor!!! The 'spots' on the shell are colored glass 'jewels; that would sparkle while the gass flames flicker...

The second heater is an American made Dangler. Again, glass 'jewels' and natural gas. The finish is nickel while the heat exchangers are blued ( as in gun bluing).

I believe the green porcelin coal heater is French. The doors are brushed steel. Beautiful. It does have a vent pipe that would have been vented out a chimney.

The fourth stove is of a brown porcelin. The coal was burned in the black firebox at the front. It has a small oven and two cooking pot locations.

    Great decorator items/conversation pieces...

WOW !!!! Those stoves are gorgeous !!!! I have an antique wood cook stove with the warming ovens . I use it in the winter to help heat the house and I also cook on it . It turned 100 years old a year or so ago . I would have to look at it again to be sure . The date is stamped into the side of the firebox . I love it and I love using it . It is a Home Comfort Stove . If I had the room and was able I would love to have a few more antique stoves . My husband has a fit over my sewing machine collection , so I do not think he would like for me to start collecting stoves . But I love them . LoL !!!!!

The nickel finish on the Dangler heater. Would you say it is bright or semi-bright nickel? I have a Dangler that I am restoring. Thanks Don
