This reel is a "Presentation" version of the Pflueger Supreme reel. It was gold plated and presented to special people; U.S. Presidents on their inauguration, etc. This particular reel was given to my father, he was Pflueger's Chief Engineer for a number of years, on his retirement from the company a few years after it was purchased by Shakespeare.
I'm looking for some history on these "Presentation" reels, such as who may have received one, etc. I've contacted the current Pflueger Co., and they were no help. And, I'm also trying to find what the value of the reel may be.
Email Mr. Miller who is a Pfueger expert, he should know.

I'm a Pfleuger bait casting collector. My father used a Supreme and I an Akron back in the late 1930's. Never had a gold presentation model and sure liked the photo you posted. I'm sure it is worth a few hundred dollars as I reularly pay about $25 for one in a good box. It doesn't sound like you'd like to sell it but I would give you $125 for it in a heart-beat.

You have an absolutely SPECTACULAR reel there! I have collected Pflueger reels exclusively since the late 90's, and would kill for one like this in my collection. This model is considered a "presidential" model according to reliable sources I have heard. "Rumor" has it that these were produced for presidents as well as for extremely significant company execs. I've heard of at least four in existance. The most amazing thing about your reel is that it is real gold plating. The ones that I own are gold imitation plating. Perhaps there were different levels of presentation reels given for other occations such as retirement or special achievements? I am not sure.
To purchase a reel like this, I would probably have to offer you a serious payment plan. It really is THAT valuable. I have a gold-plated Pflueger Akron and a similar golden narrow spooled 1577 supreme, both of which are the only known examples. I actively bring my reels to all the old tackle shows to show other collectors. I can only hope for an opportunity to give my right leg for one of these presentation models like yours. It would sure make a nice display with my other golden examples. I know, keep dreaming right? Anyways, you have one of the most desireable Pflueger reels in existance today. Absolutely beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing. Please contact me if you find out more info on your reel, as I would be most interested in the history.

Not sure what the value is but I would give you $300 in less than a heart beat.
Best to get it out there so far your up to 300.00.Hard to put a price on something that was intended for one person to own for his service of the company.I am guessing 6k on the high end 2k on the low.I do not think you would have it long asking 2k for the reel.As the other honest man stated a payment plan for the majority of collectors is an honest reply.
I have collected early model Pflueger Reels . I have never seen a gold plated
Pflueger Supreme Reel. Keep it until the day you die and leave it to
your favorite fisherman. Read some of the old Pflueger Ads.
I know this is 2 years late but my father-in-law could answer any question you had about that reel. He is a Pflueger. What is your fathers name? He or his mother probably know him.
