Model 1905 16in bayonet 1910 mfg date. Got this at estate auction.Blade is very nice shape. handle has a small chip on one side and owners initials carved in other.Scabbard is wood covered in leather which is very dried out and has the owners name written on it with 1932 after it in faint ink. After some research i discovered the bayonet belonged to the father of the man who had the estate. He was born in 1913 which made him 19 in 1932.His son was born in 1936 they had the same initials E E .

Also, the scabbard you show is just the inside body of the scabbard. There was an outer canvas cover that pulled over the part you have.

Yes, bayonet is made by Springfield Arsonal (S.A. marking above the date), and the scabbard is missing its canvas outer casing that has a brown leather tip, and a hanger so it can hang on a web belt. I like the initials carved on the handle, how ever you can find vintage replacement wood handles on Ebay for around 30 bucks. Nice bayonet, in that condition, I would say its worth between $140 to $175 dollars......
