I have this old trunk that is slightly different that civil war era trunks I have seen. It was originally covered in black tar covered canvas and it has metal handles on the sides. It also has a top compartment that would be suitable for carrying documents or maps. You will notice on the top ink stains which I believe come from this being used as a writing desk. I have researched the campaign style of trunk and have not come up with a definitive definition, other than at type of trunk that could be used on a military campaign. Other examples of campaign trunks usually have some military insignia on them. I may have probably then mislabeled this one -- I welcome an informed correction.

Great trunk. Looks great. I have just finished one very similar, except with two hasps (just like the one on your trunk). One of my hasps is missing and I have been unable to find a replacement, so I am having to have one made.

Hi, ad I need your help, boonsboro. I have the exact problem of having only one working drawbolt and trying to find an exact match. I have a friend who welds but he says it is not possible to repair the clamping thing on the bottom of the drawbolt. Where does one go to have one made? who does that kind of work? Thanks for advise
