    Hello,
I have a small construction company in N.Y. I was emptying a house and seen this sitting under garbage. It was covered in debris and dirt.
It is solid brass and I have all the crystals. It looks like someone tried or was attempting to restore or fix the electric. I think t is hand made because theres markings all over as shown in the picture. Also looks like someone tried to clean it a bit. If anyone has information about this or how I can come across markings to see when and from who It was made would be great also Is it good to clean it or finish what someone started or leave it as is. any info is appreciated. I would like to see it all finished but never dealt with a project like this. Thanks Ps excuse the mess Thats my storage room.

Hello, Danny92. your lamp is definitely worth restoring. It you do not know how to do it yourself, there are places in every city that will do it for you, but it is not hard. You can find many tutorials on line. The lamp cord will have to be replaced, but try to use the old sockets and plug; they will add to the value. If you decide to polish it, (which is ok as these were sold polished) cover it in a clear lacquer to keep it from tarnishing. I, myself, would leave it the way it is. Look on the inside of the shade. There may be loops or hooks to sew a silk lining to. Most of the lamps like this that I have had did. I replaced the lining and it looked great.
Usually this lamp is called a Persian Pierced Brass lamp, but could have been made in any number of Middle Eastern countries. The floor lamps generally sell for more money as they are more rare and more dramatically displayed. If you go to http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/9802475 your can see one very similar to yours that sold for $175.00. I'm sorry I live so far away, I would help you restore it. Hope this info helps.
