original poster, found in France! Apparently, Carter toured many times in Europe, to not have to compete with Houdini for audiences.

Bought this at Alameda Swap Meet--probably spent way too much!! :)

I don't think you can pay too much for this type of item if you love it. Quality will eventually appreciate. And your enjoyment of it is priceless.

thanks for the comment! It will help me stay calm when they tell me how much for framing! :)

I agree with rocker. An authentic one is a great find. The colors are great as are the little devil figures!

If this Carter is an original, it should measure 41" x 79" which makes up the dimensions of a 3-sheet poster. It is hard to tell the size based on what is pictured, but if it is an original the current value would be around $900 U.S. Dollars (unmounted) and approximately $1200 U.S. Dollars (mounted)

If this poster is original and unmounted, I would highly recommend you have it professionally mounted (linen backed) to preserve the paper. It will cost you approximately $300. U.S. Dollars to have this done correctly, and it should be done before you have it framed.

If this is an original, it's a great find at a swap meet! This particular poster dates back to 1926. Enjoy it.

Thanks, Zguy. You are right on. This is the size, and it was linen mounted. I paid $1200, so I think it was a good deal. It is now being framed with proper conservation methods.

You got a good deal on a beautiful Carter poster. These original 3-sheets are becoming harder to find especially in great condition. I know this poster well and the vibrant colors on here are unbelievably beautiful! Photographs do not do these stone lithographs justice, you need to be able to see these posters in person to truly appreciate the fine craftsmanship that went into designing and printing them. These posters will only increase in value if preserved. I would like to see a picture of this after it is framed. Enjoy it!

thanks, Zguy. I took a good picture with digital camera when it went to the framer, that I uploaded above. You can contact me directly at hgreenblatt@dbbc.com, and I will try to send you a pic with the framing when I get it back. I deliberately went to a high end art restoration place to do the framing, as I didnt trust the typical Michaels or Aaron Brothers.

Not sure if you are in the Los Angeles area, but if you are then I have a GREAT framer here! He usually frames for me while I wait since I don't trust leaving any of my lithographs over night with anyone. Let me know if you would like their info?

thanks--I do want the name. I am in Sacto, and already have them going on this...but I'm afraid this one probably wont be my last, so good to have more contacts! thanks!

Just fyi you should have it framed in UV protected glass to prevent fading from the sun or indoor lights. Or you can have your windows tinted instead if there is a lot of light coming in from outside. Over time the sun is a poster's worst enemy. Not sure if you have seen my poster collection on here, but I have an 8-sheet Carter lithograph hanging in my living room. Check it out.

The framer is called "Fast Frame" located at 13401 ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks, Ca. 818.784.3222. The owners are Judy and Bert, nice married couple. Don't let the franchise name scare you off, this place is among the BEST in L.A. and it is the only place I use now. Enjoy!

Thank you. I did have the framer use museum quality UV glass...expensive!
Good to know about the Fast Frame store in Sherman Oaks. I grew up in Woodland Hills, so I know right where this is!

3-sheets are VERY expensive to frame, especially in museum UV, but that's a small price to pay for such an incredible piece. The value will only increase. There are a few 3-sheets that I would love to buy myself (2 of which are Carters) however I am running out of space on my walls. Again, I would love to see a picture of this poster when completed.
