I came across this older fishing lure while cleaning out some boxes of stuff from my grampa. It is missing the tail (it was made up of different strands that turned to dust when they were touched). Other than that, it is in pretty good shape. I just don't know a whole lot about older fishing lures. Does anyone have any info on this?

That's a "Hula Popper," made by Arbogast - small size, the larger one came with two treble hooks. They go back to the 1960s, maybe earlier. Not sure if they're still made.

yep believe they are still made...

Hula Popper, but it is damaged. There was a rubber tail.

The Hooks were "hidden" in side of the rubber tail that is missing from your lure. The value would be minimal because of the condition. And yes the mfg. is the Fred Abogast Co. Keep looking the big one is out there!

This made a slight popping noise when being retrevived from a cast, the advantage to the hooks being covered was that it could be used in heavy weed covered areas. These were used mainly for bass fishing.I have one that is floresent ,great for night fishing. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Hafta' disagree with Hula Popper. The paint job convinces me that it's a Frantic Atlantic. A cheap version of Arbogast, Hula Popper, after patent expired. Check out paint schemes on both; I think you'll agree -- Frantic Atlantic. They also coppied the Arbogast Jitterbug; same paint schemes.

Either or, you can still get the rubber skirts. Hard to find in sporting good stores, just about impossible, but you can get them direct from Arbogast.
