    (103 items)

    Good Morning Fellow Collectors,
I picked up a coin grab bag this weekend and it had the usual assortment of foreign coins, wheat pennys, etc. I also found these 2 items that I believe to be some type of coin, but I have been unable to find anything on the internet that resembles them.I tested them both with a magnet, and neither one appears to have metal in them. I am thinking brass or maybe bronze ? They are hardened with whatever they are made of. The one on the right looks too good to be very old I believe, but the first one definitely looks like it has been around for a while. I also found it interesting that someone had put a hole and link on it to be worn as a necklace or charm. The dime is in the photo for size comparison only. I am hoping that someone can help me identify these or put me in the right direction ! All help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking and I hope everyone has a great day ! Thrtiftygypsy

Thrifty, once a hole is poked into any coin it becomes valueless....Sorry.. :-(

The first coin I believe is roman and real. Coin of Cunobellinus, king of the Catevellauni and the Trinovantes, AD10-43. "CVNO" for Cunobellinus
      I don't recognize the other.

      Hey Pop_abides,
That is a real bummer..... especially if it was to turn out being a real roman coin. That is just my luck ! Maybe I could fill in the hole !! lol ( just kidding ) Thanks for looking and for the comment, Thrifty Gypsy

      AR8Jason,
I think you have the final word on this mystery. You can see some areas of white metal around the edges of the coin. Information is true on second one also, it looks too good to be an old coin. I appreciate your comments and help in identifying these items. At least I did not have an old coin that was ruined ! Also explains why it was in a 1.00 grab bag ! Thanks for your help, T.G.

The one with the dove is not a coin. It is a religious medal called Widow's Mite. Depending on your religion they may look different.

Yes it is fashioned after a coin, no doubt, just not a coin. None the less it is collectible in the right arena once you know what it is. The spirit of giving is associated with it.
