hanging lamp

This hanging lamp was in my grandfathers house when he bought it in the 50's. they took it odown in the 80's when a collector offered him $30k for it. he knew exactly what it was and didn't want to sell it. He recently past away and we were going threw all of his stuff and came across it in a closet. nobody remembers what kind of lamp it was. i was hoping someone would reconize it and could tell me. ANY help at all would be apprechiated. thank you!
