This stunning Apothecary Show Globe was purchased by my grandmother in 1963 from a pharmacist in Kalispell, Montana. He purchased it as part of the entire inventory of the pharmacy he bought in 1922. The original owner and pharmacist told him that he purchased it in the early 1890s and had kept it filled with powdered aspirin (likely willow bark in those days). The globe is just over 20" tall and 10" wide. The mouth is 5" wide and the interior side of the glass is a beveled spiral pattern. It is suspended from its original wrought iron wall bracket. We fill it with tiny white lights and have lit often in our second living room. I believe she said that she purchased the show globe and bracket for $400. I wonder what it's worth today? My grandmother was famous for her collection of over 5000 figural, perfume and apothecary bottles. This piece was a central part of her collection and always the first thing I would want to see each time I visited her home in Texas.
