This Dr. Pepper thermometer came out of an elderly gentlemans shop in Dallas Texas-Mesquite Texas area.
I want to tell this story because I dig for the unusual. I walk into these Estates Sales thru the front door very briefly and said I'll take that, that, and that, then I'm out the back door to the shop or garage area. I have dug thru some of the most awful things for treasures but I love it, I have found more neat stuff.
I am also a creekin fool. East Texas is the best for creekin. Bet only a hand ful of you even know what that is..................................................
(My niece replied to My Facebook when I asked, Anyone know what creekin is and why you do it? Shes 30 yrs old and her reply was I know what craw deaden is, is that the same as creekin? Go figure!)
I also found an old pin up in this same shop, the daughter looked at me and said you want that old thing it was my dads but I DON'T WANT IT, I snatched that up so fast it made her head spin.
I also found a pie safe that was in part of his shop with lawn mower parts in it and chickens were nesting in the top two drawers, I asked her how much? the look in her eyes was a kodak moment, she was speechless and didn't know how to answer me, she thought I was kidding, I replied no really how much, she shrugged her shoulders and said, ""take it," it's not much use to me or anyone else, I hired her brother in law and I told him "LOAD ER UP!"
I was estatic, I now have cleaned it up a bit and display most of my glass pie pans in it. I have researched it and found it is worth more than you would ever guess.
I will post it on down the road and soon as I come across the pin up I will post it. So stay tuned.
I would like to know what time frame anyone might think the Dr. Pepper thermometer came from. I have found every kind of Dr. Pepper thermometer, but not this one.
