This ‘Washington’ electric clock is nearly identical to other cathedral clocks I’ve seen bearing the ‘Lincoln’, ‘Royal’, ‘Wizard’, 'Atlas', Havlin' and ‘Synchro-matic’ brand names, probably others as well. There isn’t a manufacturer’s name on it. These inexpensive no-name clocks are generally thought to have been given away as premium items, sold via magazines offers, etc. They all use a simple yet durable spin-to start motor and movement designed by Max Knobel in 1932 – still running strong after almost 80 years! This clock’s case is marbled deep red-brown Bakelite with beautifully embossed Rococo designs above and below dial. It stands about 7 in. tall.
