This is such a fun piece. Blue ceramic flask with nice details of the "doctor" on the front and the "drink-o-meter" on the back. Looks like a thermometer on back which measures the drinking situation, so to speak- very fun sayings. Front says "Use it Daily, You'll Live Gaily." Made around 1910-1920.

This bottle is from Germany and, as you know, was made by Schafer and Vater. Known as "giveaways" these bottles, filled with whiskey, were given away to the best customers by pre-prohibition saloon owners. The bigger the bottle the better the customer.

While "The Doctor" isn't that tough to acquire yours has two things going for it that make it important. First the color blue is the rarest color. They came in multi color and brown, too. The second thing is your "drink-o-meter" is still intact. Normally, these don't survive and are replaced with simple thermometers. Thanks for sharing!

      Cheers,
      Scott
