I saw this at a garage sale and bought it because I thought it was just beautiful. I was told by a friend that this may be very old and that this was the way Coke first started their advertising. I was just wondering how I could tell if this could be an original and if so how much it could be worth? It does have a couple of small chips in the paint and of course the board is a little weathered.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but my first instinct is that this is a reproduction. I have dealt a lot of Coca-Cola items in the past 40 years and this is one of the pieces that is always questioned as to its age.
I will stand corrected if found differently but that is my best guess.
FYI there was also an episode of Pawn Stars showing this exact item that was purchased by Cory and it was a reproduction......
I hope you can prove me wrong, regards, Larry
      HAPPY PICKING

I have something like it. Someone bought it for me for some reason. I remember when this was all the rage in the 80's. Even local artist were painting on slats.

Fantasy item, anyone remember seeing the kid from Pawn Stars buying one for 200.00? Old Man & his Dad were not to happy when he bought this fake coke sign. LOL

Should have read on about these before posting mine today. Seems to be agreed on that these are 70-80's fakes. Agree with owner though...I like her very much.

I have this sign, purchased it in 1969 from a guy who got it from his Grandmother.
How can I tell if it is original? and if the wood is truly grape slats from Italy?

There are no originals-- they are all FANTASY pieces.
