    This piece of furniture was found by my friend at an antique store. It has 3 legs and the box at the top opens. It is about a foot and a half to 2 feet tall.It does not look strong enough to sit on but it looks a like a stool? If you know, please tell me what this is and what it was used for?

      I agree with justin-sanford, it's a shoe shine stool, there are several shoe shine stools on Ebay.

      A fairly recent 50s/70s shortened copy of an early coblers bench, likely made as a telephone table.
