These belong to my roommate, came from his grandmother. We are just intensely curious as to their origin but do not know where to begin to look.
Any help would be immensely appreciated!

Thanks!
You have what appears to be a 19th century English 3 piece silver plate "child's set". It's hard to say exactly because I can't tell the actual size of the pieces from the pictures. They could just actually be an adult's "traveling set". Not uncommon prior to the 20th century. The knife and fork have very nice carved mother of pearl handles. Please note the registry mark in a diamond shaped "lozenge" on the back of the spoon.
It's actually "upside down" because of the way you're holding the spoon. These marks can be deciphered as to the actual day, date, and year of manufacture. I have the cypher chart in my office and will try to post or send that information later today if possible. The silver plating on the knife blade and fork appear to be what is known as, "close plated". A term used for plating on steel or iron. The spoon appears to be plated on nickel which would make it "EPNS". Hope this information helps.
Sorry, I can't read the registry marks very well because they are not clear enough. I uploaded the picture to my desktop and magnified it turned upright but it's come out as a "mirror image". Im afraid the marks are to indistinct to give you the exact date and year of manufacture. However, I believe the type of registration mark on this set indicates it was probably made between the years, 1868-1883.
Hope that helps you.
Hi, I recently acquired a bunch of random pieces of silver. The markings appear to say wm. rogers " I S" can you give me any information on this, and does all sterling silver have to say 925 or sterling on it, to be authentic. as far as not plated?
Thanks so much for your time.
@yolanda davis. Your pieces are silver plated and made by Rogers. The "I S" stands for, Int'l. Silver Co.
And yes, all sterling silver articles are marked, sterling, .925, or as in the case of English silver with a series of 3-5 "hallmarks" including a lion mark facing sideways indicating .925 sterling silver.
