My father, James Parker worked for Sunray D-X in the late 1950s and early 1960s as a civil engineer for their retail service station outlets until 1964-65 when he was offered a local D-X oil and gasoline jobbers in nearby Sand Springs Oklahoma. At that time I was five years old and years I only saw occasionally as he built his customer base and several retail outlets. As I grew older he would take me to work with him and I rummage through the old bulk plant building that had been there since 1920. As a teenager, I worked at the D-X retail outlets, pumping gas, checking air, oil, changing tires, and whatever grunt work the full-time employees didn't want to do. It wasn't until after my second marriage that I became interested in gas and oil advertising, so, with permission, I salvaged most of the gas and oil porcelain and tin signs from the warehouse. I started to collect railroad memorabilia and amassed a large collection that I enjoyed for more than 12 years. In the last six months I have been liquidating that collection to continue to collect gas and oil advertising, focusing on gas pump signs, little did I know, how expensive this hobby had become.Pict.s 1,3,4 + anouther wall is all i got from selling 6000.00$ worth of R/R collectibles! How do you like my light fixture (pict#2), its a slice from a cypress tree stump i bought in the early 1980s, that was no fun hanging it from the ceiling!!!

Wow I musta been asleep 6 days ago...VERY nice !! I especially love the Cypress slice on the ceiling.I'm sure that was NOT a fun task but well worth the effort !

thanks Hedgewalker, i used to have it hanging in the center of a large wood panneled wall, fter looking at it for some time an idea poped into my head. I had 30-40 antique tools lieing around so i took it down, found the center of the wall, hammered a nail with a string attached then re-centered the slice bck on the wall. the string would reach all four corners, i stuck thumb tack threw it & started "directionally" hanging the tools, all pointing to the center, around the piece. Man i was proud of that design! Of course, i didnt take any pictures, & when i moved, my wife wasnt going for that in the living rm. After studying my new "sanctuary" the only logical place for it was "up there"!!!!
