    New_to_2nd…
    (1 item)

Hello everyone! My house was built in 1955 and recently I've become interested in 50's era stuff for it, especially "atomic" or "streamlined" items. I just really like the simplicity and functionality. I've been casually looking for things like clocks, pots/pans, etc. that just belong in my house. I've been frequenting auctions, estate and garage sales, and reading and studying online and I have to say: this is a great hobby!

I went to my first ever flea market yesterday and this teapot jumped out at me. It's just awesome. It's iron with like a blue/green enamel (in perfect shape) with the cool stainless/plastic handle. Here's the problem: I can't find anything like it at all, anywhere. As far as I know it might have been purchased at Walmart 2 months ago or purchased 65 years ago and lovingly cared for. I doubt the former because I had to clean a lot of scale off the inside. It also had gunk on the enamel that I cleaned off carefully with vinegar/water+dawn (it cleaned up great).

I bought this for about what new ones cost at the big stores. I think it's older, from the 40's or 50's, but don't know what I'm doing. I spent way too long looking for similar things on the internet (it has no markings) but couldn't! Anyone know anything about this or have any insight? It's driving me crazy. Also if you've seen these at Sears or something let me know!

Thanks ahead of time for any help.

      Absolutely love your retro / sleek / streamlined / space-age / machine age/ mid-century moderne / designer-look teapot.

I tried to find out more, too, searching with all those afore-mentioned trendy buzz words -- and couldn't turn up anything but this one for sale by a seller who just calls it vintage -- http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/art-deco-streamline-moderne-teapot

I hope someone will tell us who made it and when.

Haha excellent! Thanks MsDowAntiques!! I checked back at lunch to see if anyone could find anything and you succeeded where I failed for more than 2 hours :) It looks like the teapot you found is sold!

I'm definitely more hopeful now that there is someone somewhere who knows about this teapot. I'll let you know what I find out.

This etsy seller uses a pic of the same teapot as her avatar -- maybe she knows something about it?

I will be on the lookout when I'm out hunting -- if it comes in turquoise or pink, I may have to buy it! --Marianne

Marianne, thanks for the second lead! I e-mailed thewildplum and got this response. It looks like you and I weren't the only ones who couldn't find any information about this tea pot! I guess it was a good idea to pick it up at that flea market, and apparently I got it for a great price!

"Hi! Thanks for asking about the tea pot. I wish I could tell you everything about it. A few months ago I found the exact same one in the same color. I researched about every avenue I could think of and found absolutely nothing. What I did find out was that I could take it completely apart to clean it and that nothing made today is built that way. If you look through my sold items list you can see what I had to write about it. I probably should have kept it because it was so incredibly cool. If you find out anything please let me know. Sorry I don't have any more information to give you :-("

I think you will find it's a kettle not a teapot?

      Excellent observation, Andy!

I wonder if the one here is vintage, and if the new OGGI Zephyr (which is unavailable on Amazon or ebay) is a repro, since it is stainless, and this one is enameled -- http://www.amazon.com/Oggi-Zephyr-Stainless-Steel-Teakettle/dp/B00032HGMU

Wow, Andy. You, sir, are amazingly talented. How much is shipping to the States?

I believe mine is old as well MsDow, only because of the scale I had to clean out, but new or old I didn't pay much for it and I think of this site and everyone's feedback whenever I see it and like it even more! Thanks for the feedback everyone! This site is great!

I guess we were trying too hard to find it using vintage terms. Chadakoin has definitely found it -- it's a Noritake Colorway Tea Kettle, alright. New, but way cool!
