This is the opposite of the smart meter, the cool, retro, how on earth could this still be operating dumb 19th century meter. Its in the lobby of the office building next door to ours - ironically a highly renovated, fancy, hipster office. So the fact that this Batman-era hunk of hardware is still operating in plain sight is incredible to me... unless its a joke. I think of things like this as antiques in the wild... hanging on as a relic of a bygone age. In this case, if its endured this long, it has a great chance of lasting another few decades... not worth anything to anyone to steal it.

Wonder why they needed DC service?

The DC service goes directly to the oval office, hehehehehehe! Nice old unit.
