(2 items)
Frosted glass to man/woman and dolphins (or lion heads), clear glass to the rest. They are each 11 7/8" tall, 3 1/2" at the top ball area at the widest, 7/8" at the top opening, each figure is approximately 6" tall. I do not know anything about them. There is no name on either piece I have checked everywhere possible. I sure would like to put a name to these.
12-30-12 I did receive some information that these were Lace Makers Whale Oil Lamps made before 1890
I did find out that these items were made in Portieux, Vallerysthal France. But I don't know what they were used for. Someone suggested maybe an ivy plant was used inside. Or even some oil with a floating wick.
These are French oil lamps. They burned vegetable oil . Go to amazon.com and search for the book Les Lampes a Huile by Mahot.
Beautiful French oil lamps and to have a pair!!!!
