They are about 1in. long.
When I was a youngster, yes, around 50 years ago, the little blown or melted glass animals were all the rage. People made them at fairs, carnivals, tourist spots. They were worn as jewelry, or sat on knick knack shelves. I have no idea if these are from that era or fashion, but that's what they remind me of.
These have a wire that goes through the middle with an eyelet on the top. My mother's great aunt had the lamp for many years,so I am not sure how old they are.
I see the eyelet, that's why I mentioned that they were often used for jewelry... possibly hung on a chain or even earrings. Sorry I'm not more helpful.
You have been very helpful. I have never had any info on these at all. Now I can research them with more of an idea what to look for. Thanks so much!!
The method is called Flame work. The glass is worked at the flame of the glass workers torch. They are used as zipper pulls as well as the uses mentioned above. They are made all over the world. Some great modern pieces are coming out of Russia. The Italians also make a huge range from the best ever to very ordinary pieces. Some of my favourites were made in the UK.
