I found this recently at a flea market and purchased it for $10.
    The dimensions are as follows:
    17" long
    5 .5 " pot
12 frets that are real metal into wood

One violin type peg (three missing)
    No bridge

Light colored wood (maple?) with nickel sized hole in resonator (permanently attached)

Skin is paper or velum not plastic.
Silver rim is nailed-on (no screws)

Is this a toy?? any idea on the maker origins of this tiny instrument.

I have a banjolele and this seems quite small even for a soprano sized banjolele.
Could itbe a high quality toy??

I think my daughter posted one of these one Ebay just this past week, I don;t think it's a toy (ours has more parts) I only found this because I was trying to identify it as well. The thing belonged to my uncle or great uncle so it is fairly old at the very least. Did you ever figure out anything on this?
