This lamp came home from an estate with my husband. He thought it was artful and as I look at it I see his point. The tube which emulate cast iron (although I don't think it is...see the last photo, look closely at the finish, it is hand applied, a dark reddish black). The tube splay out top and bottom and have a band wound around he middle which appears to be brass wire as does the tassel. I think it looks like something from the '50's but I could be mistaken. I am looking for some help from someone knowing more about lamps! Please give me your insights. Notice that it has a big brass ball contained in the splayed "iron" uprights. The shade it came with was clearly not original...
Hello Thudson, I think your lamp is Danish Modern in style. The wood is probably teak. If you google Danish Modern Floor Lamp and click the image tab, you will see similar designs. You may also get ideas of what the appropriate shade would look like. I do not know who made yours, but some designers command good prices at auction and there are a lot of decorators and collectors that seek this style of furniture. I think yours is pretty nice. Although Danish Modern is still being produced, I would say yours is from the 1950's, though this style is not my expertise. Thank you for sharing it.
