    4 inches. 100 mm scissor with one flat end.
    Old maker marks erased by use on the inside of the flat bit
    No idea what there are for. Have been asking friends and shopkeepers to no avail
    A mention of possible appliqué scissor.

      These are definitely applique scissors - I've used them many times with reverse applique. Reverse applique is like normal applique but the fabric that you want to show is sewn to the underside of your base fabric, instead of the top. You then cut away the layer of top fabric within the design so that the background fabric shows. These scissors are used for cutting away that top portion - the wide portion slips between the two layers of fabric and prevents accidental cutting of the fabric on the bottom. :-)
