I recently found one of these myself. It is a wine decanter, manufactured by Casa Vinicola Bardi Ubaldo, CERTALDO, FIRENZE, ITALY. They sold several figurine decanters, among them an Elephant, A Santa Claus, a Donkey, an Alligator, the Knight and many many more. The red wine inside was typically of low quality as they were generally marketed to tourists. There were quite a lot made. I'm not sure of the period but I believe up until the 1960's or 70's. Many come up for sale on Ebay, usually referred to as Bardi's. Hope this helps.
