Unknown small car, you pump the steering wheel shaft to make it move. It also has a hand brake. If you have any information, I would greatly appreciate it. It is missing the front spoke wheels, 12" that fit a 7/16" shaft, and the seat. It's in my shop for restoration.

That is really neat.... If it is an Irish Mail cart, what would bring it to the US? I bet it has a very interesting story behind it.. Thanks for sharing!

They were mass produced in many forms, it's just a generic name based on the original design & use.

      One possibility of it's origin:

Hi my name is Scott, I'm brand new to this site. I found you while researching Irish mails. A friend gave me one to restore for his first grand child. The one I have is identical to yours it is complete but missing a rear wheel. Did you find any info on this piece and I noticed you needed front wheels...how did you find them? This particular model seems rare I would love anything you can tell me about it!! Thank you cheers~Scott

Hi Scott..I had to calculate the size of the missing back wheels by setting the frame level. I searched the webb for vintage spoke wheels of that size. Found some old buggy wheels that were close. The hub shaft hole was a little to small. but I was able to ream it to size. You have a more difficult problem to match one wheel to the other. I would suggest if you cannot find one, replace both with matching wheels. Search for vintage buggy wheels, but before you buy question shaft size of hub. I was not able to find any info on this cart. It has a steering wheel which is unusual. Good luck with project.

Hi, thanks for getting right back to me! Buggie wheels is a great idea that's just what I'll do.. you are right the steering wheel and brake are unusual I haven't even so much as found a picture of one other than yours (you had) I noticed one of your commenters Miguel wanted pics of steering. I don't know how to contact him on this site??do you? I will be disassembling, blasting and painting this piece so I plan to take a ton of pics before I take it apart. I would send some along to another. I have seen some of the t-handled ones on eBay for as much as 300.00 or so dollars..did you sell yours? Or did you get sense of what it was worth? Not that this one is going to ever be sold just curious as to value of such a thing..sorry if that was wrong to ask...anyhow this has been in front of me for a couple of hours now as I do research and I like it!!!its cool...thanks again~Scott

I repaired it for an antique dealer, I understand it was sold. I will attempt to find out for how much.

Ihave the same irish mail with a round steering wheel. It is complete, just needs
refinishing. It was my father's and I am 68 years old now. I would like as much
information as I could get on it so I can completely restore it. I would like a picture of a completed one. It has a logo and a name on the seat area but it is
faded real bad so I would like to know what it read originally. Thanks Tom

Hi Tom... the one I worked on I had no information, and was missing the seat and front wheels. I guessed what the seat looked like. Does it look like yours?
The last picture is what it looked like when I returned it to the dealer. He finished the seat and left the rest in this condition.
