This wooden doll was found during a stripmining operation in Southern Illinois around 1960. Upon discovery of it the workers stopped the operation to try and find more of it, since the left arm, leg and right foot was missing. They only found the two extra arms that don't seem to match the doll. If anyone has any idea of where I can get more info. on this please let me know. No antique dealers in my area to show it to.

How tall is doll ? I really need a closer photo of it can you put one up ?
It appears to be a hand carved jointed wooden doll , many of these were carved by men while away during war to send home usually sailors while at sea or fisherman .Because it has a full body with curves not a lathe turned one as with peg woooden I ould date this one much older . But to be accurate as possible I need to see the face better . Wonderful doll and glad it was rescued . Most likely dates to civil war period .Please inform of height that will tell me more and face .
I will post a few of my wood dolls to see difference in body from ones more found with legs and arms with pegs to hold joints . And will await more info and photo's from you . Thank you for sharing on CW

The face on yours will help me see if she was factory made or hand carved :-)

I will have to measure it and get back with you. As for the eyes the person I got it from told me they were made of glass and you used to be able to move them around. I don't have it at home with me. I own a small thrift shop in my home town and I have it on display there.

If she has glass eyes most likely factory produced , Still need a close up of face to ID her . If you can get another photo when at shop it would help :-)

The length is around 11 inches across chest about 2 1/4 inches across widest part of thighs 2 1/2 inches. The extra arms are 4 1/2 inches long. I have a lady that works part time for me and she does all my pictures. She was unavailable today. Will try to get another pic. some time this coming week.
