My great aunt on my dad's side of the family, Cora Haden, was an Air Raid Warden in her neighborhood during WWII. Her husband, Art, was stations overseas with the U.S. Army.

I was able to take this from one of his many scrapbooks when I was young. My brother and I were on a quest for old postage stamps, but were allowed to carry away a lot more. Our Uncle Art had no idea how much all these things have meant to my brother and I over the years.

      Just re-read, and yes...Cora was a woman.
