These dolls are very well-made and obviously handcrafted from all natural materials. From the deerskin to the delicate, hand-beaded buttons these dolls are well-preserved as authentic dolls.

These were given to me by an old friend who grew up in Northern Nebraska in the 1930s. She was gifted these dolls by her grandfather who said they were from the Lakota Sioux Tribe in South Dakota. It is estimated they were made in the late 1800s.

Interested in finding out if these are common, rare or need to go to a museum. If anyone knows about these types of hand-made Native American dolls I would like to find out more about them.

Beautiful dolls and worth preserving . They are not dressed as ornate as some but have a very good value . They are not abundant on market ,I am reluctant to use rare as a word so lets use hard to find . Some damage and loss of beading to ones foot I suspect maybe a mouse got to it . I would date 1900 . I see what looks like sequin shaped beads am I right ? I am not sure when they began using those . I love them . ! Your very lucky to have been given charge of them as you seem to care about protecting their history :-)
A example only of a Sioux Indian doll for sale . How tall are yours ?

Hello and thanks for your quick response. They are both 10" tall (oops, that would have been good to say). Yes, it appears like very small beads, sequins, etc. The chief also has some horsehair attached to his mane. You are right that it appears some animal chewed on one foot.

I see your Indian doll is quite beautiful. Have you had any offers?
