I've done a little research on this and have found similar items. All of the ones that I have come across have been made of wood. This one seems to be made of a bone-type material.

When looking into the small looking glass in the middle, you can see a magnified image of a church with the following text beneath -

    'St. Anne de Beaupre'

Sainte-Anne de Beaupré is a tiny town on the shores of the St. Lawrence River. The village is home to (and named for) the Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré. It is a major Catholic shrine. It is also a place of healing that attracts more than a million pilgrims per year.
St. Anne is the mother to the Virgin Mary and grandmother of Jesus. Mary's parents are named Anne and Joachim. She first appeared in Christian writings about the year 150 AD. Devotion to St. Anne reached the West after the 8th
century. It was very popular in France at the time of the settlement of Quebec.

The material of the crucifix is either bone or nut. I can not seem to locate my information regarding the nut. I will follow-up with those details.

It could be carved out of a Tagua Nut.
