Good morning fellow collectors ! I am changing my posting photo to better reflect my ThriftyGypsy name ! I thought I would give some back ground on this photo, since it has very special meaning to me ! I received this from my mother before she passed away in 2006. It is one of the few items I have related to my families past. I will try and take more photos without the glare, and some of the back. It has the "bubble" glass covering, and the photo almost looks like a drawing, not sure. Hopefully someone on here will be able to identify it, ( I'm sure !). I am not sure of the date. This photo is of my Grandmother's mother, (on the right), her mothers brother, (on the left), and her grandmother in the background. My grandmother passed away in the mid 90's at the age of 85, so I know it is pretty old. My mother's people were from Serbia and my grandmother still had some of her accent. I was always told that some of her relatives were gypsys. She loved to cook old style dishes for me when I visited. I will try and post more info later. I have this hanging in the den, where my daughter used to visit with her boyfreinds when she was a teenager. I always told them they were being watched, I did not worry too much about them, lol ! It is a photograph taken in the early 20th century. As with any photograph, enlargements lose details, and the solution was to paint or chalk in the details that were lost during the process.
I would date your photograph to about 1910- 1920.
Be sure to note the information about the subjects on the back, so it stays with the image.

ThriftyGypsy: I have my folks wedding picture in a convex oval frame-they were married in 1911-the frame is approx 24" long and 18".

All right, I got that one through. This picture takes my imagination to the real fields of the "wizard of Oz", and that one of those ladies is Auntie 'Em!! LOVE SUPER LOVE this photo!! I wanted to say...DOH, I was not following the posts. AR8Jason is a mental treasure amidst all these visual treasures. I wanted to ask you AR8, I have posted a photo by Harold A. Taylor. He was turn of the century and was an early innovator of "colorized" film. His idea did not get picked up, but I wonder if the photo I have is one of his early "Colorized" film, rather than tinted. He had a studio in Coronado called the Three Arrows Studio, where he worked on film, and his bread and butter were architectural photos. Could you see what you think?? I appreciate the time you put in to help others. In any case, he is an interesting character whose invention may have brought around "color film" much earlier, but he did not get discovered?? Or no infrastructure existed to develop them at that time?? It is a SoCal Eucalyptus scene. Thank you, as always, Gypsy, Love your family, Mich

As the "wizard of Oz" was a dream, perhaps the lady on the left is Auntie "em, the middle lady the architype for the "Wicked Witch", and the boy, well...he is Dorothy's older brother. I love this photo, it makes the imagination reel!! Mich
