According to the Toy Price Guide Publishers, "the history of Tri-ang Toys can be traced back to the early 1850's through the Lines family and is arguably one of the most important toy companies born out of the UK being at one time the world's largest toy company. The Line family, who went on to form Tri-ang Toys, first became involved in the toy business producing equipment for toddlers. 1850- The Lines Family open their first factory near Kings Cross, London."
This clockwork model racer is a post-war, "open cockpit" M13 wind up and is my most complete car with plastic overlay on the lithographic driver and exhaust pipe. The wheels are period color correct reproductions, since the pure rubber tires disintegrated into "flat bottom tires", long ago.
Thanks Bellin,
Actually the "M13's" are my favorite Tri-ang models. There are many different models Tri-ang makes. I will post in the near future.
I forgot to mention that the front wheels are steerable, so that your toy can go in circles.
Great info and story !
