This is a beautiful George Zee chest. A friend asked us to take it to Good Will because his dog had jumped up on it over the years and scratched the finish very badly, I asked if we could have it and he was happy that we wanted it. Fortunately the wood was not damaged very much. I did have to strip the finish and re-stain this piece. I matched the color exactly and put the same satin finish back on. As you know I love all antiques and I really disagree that refinishing a damaged piece to its former glory destroys the value. How come classic cars that are lovingly restored are still considered classic and sell for thousands of dollars? Over the years this piece once again will get the patina it deserves.
