I've been on the look out for a counter sign to put on the shelf under the T.V. The recent Schmidt Museum auction presented an opportunity to purchase cool Coca-Cola items at premium prices. Very few items sold for under a grand, and many items went for 4 and 5 figures. I bid and ultimately purchased this lighted counter sign with round clock (NOT 4 or 5 figures!:). A little rough, a little over priced, but it keeps good time and lights up nicely, and I enjoy it (wife likes it too - bonus).
Happy Easter everyone. Have a great weekend!
Very cool Dave, nice to have your own piece of the" Schmidt Collection"!!
Thanks Bernie. I'll admit a touch of buyer's remorse... that passed quickly! :) The Schmidt auction experience did motivate me to hold one of my own. I sold a few pieces out of my collection, items I wasn't happy with condition or had trouble finding the right spot to display. All but one sold, and I figured when all was said and done, about a 40% profit total on my investments. Proceeds covered cost of this clock almost exactly.
AHHH!!! the life of a collector, ups and downs.... at least you won your Schmidt lot, I got beat out on two signs, LOL!!!! Great piece Dave, all looks really nice!!
Very Nice clock Dave im totally jealous
That Schmidt stuff went for major bucks. Dave at least you got one item everybody wanted! What am I sayin, they wanted every item in that auction! That was the craziest auction I've ever watched. These are in very high demand right now. I guess there weren't many "Light Up Signs" that survived. Well done Dave!
Thanks Tom, Trev, and Perry. I agree, it was a feeding frenzy. Didn't get nibbled on too hard, but still got a little piece ah me chawed off! :)
Thanks Ray! I see what you're saying about placement. And the light is quite bright which when turned on makes for an interesting visual experience with the T.V. on as well. I don't have much in the way of counter space or shelving down here unfortunately. I may move it up and over next to or on the ice chest someday. Some of the fun of collecting this stuff is moving it around to find just the right spot. For now, it fills that open space nicely.
IMO its looks better there than that coca cola "remote holder" did, but almost looks like you got a fire place right beside your T.V. it would look great sitting on the mantle if you have room for it.
have same clock in working condition was wanting to know value
also know some history of clock
Value is in large part influenced by condition. These counter signs are selling currently on eBay for approx $500-$1000. A really nice, minty example, perhaps a little more, a chipped-scuffed up sign could go for less.
thank you
Great looking sign!
