These are chairs that I received from my Grandma, I'm trying to find out the type and name of the chairs so I can find out what era they are from, I have not been able to find out anythiing as of yet. Any help would be great
Hi Griffey, I too have one of the smallest chair. I think it is called a CharlesII chair. I don't know the year. I had seen one on ebay. Good luck I will be watching the answers .
I think the tall narrow backed chairs are called slipper chairs...They had a large amount of imports from the middle east in the 1980's on this type of chair...I'm not sure about the small one, maybe a bustle chair, they too were imported..
Could these be salesman samples, that they carried with them to show prospective customer stores? Or maybe custom made children's chairs, to mimic the adults.
I have a chair like the Gold velvet one, only mine is red. I also know where there is another like mine. I would also like to have information on it.
Wow... Have had one since 1976 -- it has the oval on the back like the little one, but the back is rather high. The spindles of the back are pointed. The upholstery is a green velvet. Having never searched for info it until today, I was so thrilled to see a picture on the first link I selected. That quickly faded when I realized that no one knows what it is. ;-(
Well, at least, it's small enough to cart around to the antiques shops. Will post if I find out anything.
Found the tall one on eBay. It's from the Spanish Renaissance... has the middle front-to-back support below the seat. I figure that the smaller one is, as well... just haven't found it. Of course, I feel sure that mine is just a copy, not the real deal.
So, at least we've identified one of them. ;-)
I also have one of these small high back chairs. The gold one. I too would like info on this chair I found in trash.
