Italian made platter

This is a platter I received from my grandmother-it's engraved italy on the back. What I'm really curious about is if anyone has an idea of what the closeup picture could be? Pasta maker? Just seems out of sync with the other items on the platter. I've heard everything from toothpick holder to a faucet!
