Today, 4/13/12, is the 152nd anniversary of the first 'pony express' run, so I will show my mailbags. I was allowed to buy these, as a youngster, in Gothenberg, Ne. This was once a stop on the route of the mail run. I no longer remember how much they cost, in the '50's, but I'm sure it wasn't a big price.
Born and lived in St. Joe (until I enlisted in the Corp). We used to say, "St Joseph, Mo., where the Pony Express started and Jessie James ended. And nothing since" lol. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks kerry, thanks Manikin. Ah, but St. Jo has much more because that's where my wife's people came from.
Thanks for this love also miKKo.
