I bought this book a few years ago, in a bookshop in Steamboat Springs CO for $65 . I would think it quite collectable. I don't think that the folks in the shop realized that George Washington Sears was Nessmuk. I don't know how the McPhee inscription affects the collectibility . I have been able to find no other listing of this 1884 edition. It is not inscribed as a "First Edition" but I think that it might be. I would welcome more information. Thanks, TomA
Nice book. There is one listed on Alibris.com with an asking price of $500.00 (remember asking price and sales price are to entirely different things).
More importantly you need to learn what the "points" are for determining the First edition. "Points" are things such as the discription of the cover; what it states on the title page; number and kind of illustrations and number of pages".
You can go to eBay and go to the Booksellers Forum, they have a "Thread" entitles ask any question about any book. You can ask for someone to look up the "Points" of the First edition of your book. Members there have access to specialized reference books that will give the information. If you are polite, and there is an available person, you just might get an answer.
I wish you good luck.
