Can any help with this terracotta pot..approx....11cm/4 1/2 inches high, I have had it for ages and always wondered about it. I just love the scenes and the style of writing.
It is quite romantic with two love birds in the tree and the two on the ground and the full moon in the background...:-).
I have googled many different ways describing it, but! come up with nothing. It seems to have a oriental feel to it but! the "Best wishes to you) sounds very English, so quite confused! Many thanks for looking.

Shine a flashlight inside of it, if you see blue glass reflection (even the tiniest glimmer) , get back to me. I might be able to assist you.

      Hi! mlrsadpsgt.

I have shone a torch inside but can't see any blue, it is glass like being glazed, it's the same as the rim. Hand potted as you can see lots of ridges.

I am for some reason disappointed in not seeing any blue and kept looking at it but! no. I feel if there had of been! you might have been able to tell me something about it. It really is a lovely pot and looks special.

What did you think it may be? Many thanks for your interest.

Was looking to see if it was blue cobalt. My fiancee and I are still researching it for you. We love helping out, and love the fun of being able to search together.

That is very kind of you, thank you! I doooo!!! hope though you have better luck than me, I have tried everything and come up with nothing! the number on the bottom is intriguing don't you think?
    5. mlrsadpsgt mlrsadpsgt, 13 years ago
Yes it is, if it were of an oriental origin the number should have been in oriental writing not the standard numbers.

I can't understand how someone could have done it, the decoration looks to be applied on the body as it is slightly raised, but it is so intricate! take the writing it looks like it has been scribed as it is so free flowing, till you feel it, I just love it...:-)
