    Hi,
Recently spent some time with my Dad cleaning out an old outbuilding, and came across this John Deere guard/cover. We have no idea what model/exact part it would be. It might not even be an "antique", but it's definitely old. Would someone be knowledgeable enough on here that would know what it is, or what model it would be from? Although my Dad has never had a farm tractor, he's always had Deere equipment as long as I can remember for his farm drainage business - dozer and backhoe specifically. He's having a new shop built (reason for cleaning up some things), and if we decide this piece is worthy to be displayed, it'd be nice to be able to share exactly what it is.

Thanks for any help - just came across this site, and am hoping someone would be willing to share their wisdom. Feel free to email at juskiddingu@gmail.com - thank you.

Have a good day - Randy

Looks like a pulley guard, possibly off a mower deck.

It's from a John Deere 14 T square baler, it covers the belt/pulleys that drive the pickup auger. They were produced from 1954 - 1960, we (Dad) use to own one & replaced it with a 24T that we still have & use.

Thanks walksoftly! I'll have to ask my Dad if he has have any idea how it would've got in their building. I just stumbled on this site yesterday, and am glad I did. I appreciate those of you that are willing to share your knowledge.
      Have a good day!

Good call walksoftly.... Makes sense to a son of a farther that also had a lot of JD equipment of the same years.. But would have never figured that one.... Dad did not own a JD baler... :-)

Thanks Dan, I guess I saw to much of that baler over the years. I still have the owners manual for the 14 T, & some people are still using those balers yet.

Deerehunter, your'e welcome, I hope you found some other things when you were cleaning up.

Funny thing, it always appeared that I was at the wrong end of a baler also... if it was not for being on the wagon collecting the bales, it was in the barn stacking the bales... :-)

We wore out a lot of gloves & pants, handling all those bales.
