I am trying to identify this long case clock I inherited. It has been in my family for decades. It has a glass door and brass dial. I can find no marking on the wood, it appears to be mahogany with an ornamental veneer. It is running and looks to be an 8 day movement. I have searched the internet for a similar clock with a arched top with finials and a glass arched door with no luck. Can this be a 19 th century clock? My ancestors emigrated from Surrey England and may have brought this with them.

      A seriously nice clock!
I think he arched top is called a "lancet top" but there seem to be Gothic revival features too! It has Regency and William IV features.
      How tall is it?

the clock is 98 inches tall, 20 inches wide and 12 inches deep. The roof top with the movement slides off the lower 3/4 part of the clock, It appears to be mahogany base with a flame mahogany veneer. The door has a glass panel the is arched like the roof. There is a small " door" panel below the door that latches from the inside and comes out. The glass over the brass dial is beveled as is the brass surround. I looked for some names

the clock is unmarked unless there are marking on the movement but I am fearful to look there. I would have to remove the top 1/4 of the wood case that houses the movement.

I have a similar clock built in 1832 New York City. The clock maker is John Stokell who operated from 1820 to 1843. However I think a bit longer because I find more that he did.
