this chair was originaly stuffed with hay or straw and horse hair, the craftsmanship is high quality as there is no dowels as the dowelling is part of the legs and it is pressure fit joints, they are like a cone fit,i believe the wood is walnut dark and light,i cannot find any chair loke this one on the net or any books. can someone tell me where it is from and the approximate age,it is simulr to french made and also william and mary style, i found the chair in the garbage and refinished it myself
the chair is walnut, the arms are simular to 18th century chippendale, the front legs are simular to louis xvi, the hardware nuts and bolts date back to 1790s
I do not know anything about this chair . However I have one just like it that was my mother's . I just recently gave it to my daughter who is in the process of refinishing it . I also would like to know more about it .
i am still researching,it could be a chair from the 18th century or the 20 th century, there is not enought resources on the net and my local library is very small, can i ask you where you live
I live in SouthWest Missouri . Where are you located ?
i live in ontario canada, if your daughter refinishes the chair she is in for alot of work it took me 5 weeks 12-16 hours a day, i think i lived in my workshop, good luck on the refinishning
