My Dad brought this back from Japan while serving our country in WWII. I did research and found that this was one of many made by factories and sold to solders, its not rare but its still cool.

Hi EJW-54,
Are there any markings on the tang under the grip?
My Dad brought one back too. Do you have any tips on research? Good web sites to help with ID?
In the second picture a couple inches behind the scabbard release button, there is a hole with a wooden pin in it. Push the pin out and the grip should slide right off.
looks like the pin may be out already on yours EJW-54.
That is cool, how many melons have you slaughtered with that, LOL.
Bootson and AR8Jason, Thanks, I did pull of the handle to get the signature of the maker and did the research with that signature, it was quite a long time ago when I did research on line and dont have web siht records, sorry. it is very sharp except where I knicked it whacking trees and who knows what else as a teenager back in the 60's n 70's
