A few more of my Australian pottery plates....Martin Boyd ....:-)

The business that became known as the Martin Boyd Pottery was first set up in 1946 by Guy Boyd (son of the Victorian potter Merric Boyd) while he was an art student at East Sydney Technical College. The Pottery operated from a house in Waters Road, Cremorne, which he shared with Norma Flegg and her husband, Leonard. A student by day, Guy Boyd threw pots at night, with Norma firing the kiln as well as taking on much of the decorating. In the early days of the business additional decorating work was undertaken by contract workers who included Guy's brother, David, Hermia Lloyd Jones (later Hermia Boyd) and Peter Rushforth.

The figures are great! But I amreally impressed by the landscapes too!
Do you think the bottom one is Uluru?
      Colours are awesome!

vetraio50... thank you!... yes the colours are something else so vibrant! and yes! I always thought it was Uluru, certainly the right shape. I have a painting of Uluru by Peter Taylor and the colours in that! are amazing.

Love the Boyds and what I think is a huge Japanese vase I think they are so underrated in this neck of the woods.
you can pop over and do my garden it looks like you must spend some time oon your own one.

Thank you ozmarty.... it is a very pretty "huge vase", I didn't know know it was Japaneses....How about next weekend for gardening?..:-)
    6. ozmarty ozmarty, 13 years ago
I'm pretty sure it's Japanese. Think I will be in Sydney next weekend at the Collectors fair. It's winter gardening can wait...

Lol!.... that's a shame as I had nothing planned I was going to fly over specially!!!...:-)

I will sometime! take a photo and post it, as far as I can remember (as haven't taken it down for a while) it was hand thrown and was made it two parts, it is painted and enamelled and the stems and petals are gold relief tubing, (if you know what I mean!) which I think you can just see, it's very pretty!

If you did that I would have be here !

I think ??? the Japanese term for the relief tubing is Moriage .

must fly have to get to my Mah Jong class.
