I have a hardy rod that I am trying to identify. It is shorter then fly rods or salmon rods and it made of solid wood (not split bamboo).
The wrap has the hardy label and the handle has a brass plate that says "Hardy's Reg. Universal Fitting". It has a name "Doreen" etched on the metal on the base of the handle and I know my father would have obtained it in the early 1950's in Campbell River, B.C. Canada. Other then that I don't know how old it might be.
Any ideas of type? Value? etc.

      Hi treewind,
Nice rod. Looks like greenheart solid wood construction with porcelain line guides, suitable for use as a sturdy boat rod. I collect rods such as this if interested. I have a similar rod made by allcocks.
      Cheers

      Hi stubbylouie,
Thanks for your info. I was able to find out about the greenheart wood from another experienced fisherman. It's good to have more confirmation.
      Thank you.
