Nineteen century German or Austrian figural carved briar pipe and cover. The bowl is carved in the form of a bearded man. Replaceable stem. The curiosity: the smoke exits through the NOSTRILS when the pipe is smoked with the cover closed.
the nostrils is a killer feature, back "in the day" i would have smoked more than tobacco out of this fine pipe!
Thanks, I thought so when posting;the nostrils! Otherwise a common carved pipe.
Very nice piece.
Thanks for posting it.
