    (167 items)

Another purchase from an auction sale this weekend.

Manufactured by METALCRAFT MANUFACTURING COMPANY Toronto, Canada
It has an 11" dia. base, is 65" tall, & a 13" dia. frosted shade.
It is the only lamp that I have ever seen with a Mogul E39D size bulb, it takes a 100, 200, 300 watt tri lite bulb, typically bulbs that are in lamps are E26 (26mm dia.), the Mogul base is 39mm in dia..
I can't find any identifying marks on the lamp, any lamp experts out there?

      Hello,
The glass on the base is nice and the stem and holder seem to be in very good shape. If it hasn't been replated it has been well cared for by the owners. These trilights are very useful lamps. With a frosted shade as this one is fitted with it will not just be an uplighter but also provide some direct light too. They can be everything from a task light to a night light if the base lights up the glass. When I was doing shows here in Ontario we sold these like hotcakes. Maker's marks were almost non existent so I am no help to you there sorry. They are still popular with young people but the over 75 crowd think of them as funeral parlour lights so they are not so keen. :O) They were around from the 40s through the 50s, I believe.

Thanks Lisa, the plating is in excellent condition, the base doesn't light up, I wish it did.
      Any thoughts on value?
I'm not selling it, I have a spot picked out already for it.

I haven't sold floor lamps since I had to stop doing shows. So my knowledge here is past it's sell by date. ;o) I can tell you that when I did sell them I got 250 for one like your's in the hay day and about 150.00 when I first started to carry them.

We paid $50 for it, I guess nobody else at the auction liked it as much as my wife & I did.
Thanks Lisa, I appreciate your input.

My mom had one like this in the living room around 1954. I seem to think she bought it at a church rummage sale. Ours had a little push button on the very bottom. When you pushed the button a separate light in the bottom came on. Not much more light than a night light. It wouldn't surprise me if hers is still up in the attic.

Thanks for the comment fhrjr2, I wish mine had the little light in the bottom I think it would really show off the base.
      Thanks for the L's, fhrjr2 & scandi.

Thanks for the info Phil, I did get the adapter. You would think there would be more info on the company. As for calling it Art Deco, I wasn't sure when I posted it so CW placed it in this category . What size of bulb did you use for the base, & where did you place the switch?
    14. Lisa-lighting Lisa-lighting, 13 years ago
I used a small appliance bulb in the base and put a push switch in the base. But I will eagerly await Phil's response. Thanks Phil for the information on Metalcraft. Did your lamp come with a sticker or do you have some advertising?
    15. walksoftly walksoftly, 13 years ago
Thanks Lisa, did you place the switch on the flat portion of the base where it transitions from the curved surface to the flat? There was no ID sticker or info with the lamp.

      Thanks Phil for the love.

Thanks for the info phil, now that I know others have done this I think I'll go ahead with it.

Adding to the info on these lamps by Metalcraft Mfg company in Canada that I gave you 4 years ago, this beautiful lamp took a torchiere shade which I know they were manufacturing a beautiful reproduction back in 85 starting. The company was owned by Shapiro in Toronto, Canada and he let his employees hand build their own airplane ashtray stands or get a free ashtray at Christmas. I have know that for years. Also to these lamps exactly like you have you can easily find the ashtray stand to match your lamp on ebay or your local auction.
