Is there a patent date on the movement plates Misty? The reason that I'm asking is that Seth Thomas made some reproductions of their own mid to late 19th century "Column" clocks. It looks very similar to their "Column ca. 1870" but that clock had an open face around the motion works. Your columns may have been repainted also. If there is a patent date on the movement that will help. Also, the clock I'm referring to was only 16 inches tall. An exact height measurement could be helpful as well since they tended to be either 16, 19, 25 or 32 inches tall.

Well, unless the movement contradicts me, I think that you have a Seth Thomas "Column" circa 1870. The columns were originally gilted only on the top and bottom. Another beauty!

Thank you Misty, that's very kind of you to say! These old clocks were like relatively expensive, but necessary appliances in their day. Column clocks like yours were a pretty popular design.
