Ok this is another one of those "that's busted but really cool" type antiques. We have a huge pile of old garbage in our back field. When my grandfather and grandmother had this house, back in the late 50s early 60s, they didnt have trash service. So the non-burnable garbage was hauled off to the back field and forgotten about. Now, fast forward - years later - enter the collector/pack rat granddaughter. My mom and I were digging in the heap and I found this. Mom says she recalls a set of about 6, and her and her sisters would eat lunch off of them. It has one piece broken out, but considering how long it's been in the elements it's in wonderful shape. No idea the age, or what it actually is.
I think you are pretty close on your dates. I think they used to sell these in the Grand Union stores.
This is a snack plate in the Homestead pattern. It was manufactured by Federal Glass. A small cup that was part of the set would sit in the ring on the plate. I believe these were sold as 8-piece sets, 4 plates and 4 cups. Hope this helps! Happy Collecting!
Thank you, tablefullofmemories! Found the exact set on ebay with the information you gave me. You know your stuff!
So glad to be of some help!
